Water temperature & clarity

🌡️ Surface temperature

72°F surface temp (satellite estimate)Landsat 9, Oct 23 · 16 days old · median of 33,584 open-water pixels, middle half 72–73°F
How this is estimated
  • It's an estimate, not a live reading. It comes from the most recent clear-sky Landsat 8/9 pass in the last 30 days and is hidden once it's more than 21 days old.
  • Landsat's thermal band measures roughly the top millimeter of water (“skin” temperature), which is often slightly cooler than the water a foot down.
  • Thermal pixels are about 100 m, resampled to 30 m. We use only open-water pixels at least about 200 m from shore, with cloud, cloud-shadow, cirrus and snow masked out, and report the median.
  • Landsat covers each lake on clear days only, every 8–16 days.
  • Atmospheric correction adds error. An independent validation of the Landsat Collection 2 product found about ±1.1 K (≈±2°F) RMSE over water (Wang et al., 2021, Int. J. Digital Earth); USGS's own per-pixel uncertainty for these scenes is larger, about 3 K (≈5–6°F).
  • Data: USGS/NASA Landsat Collection 2 Level-2 Surface Temperature (ST_B10, scale 0.00341802, offset 149.0 K), read via Microsoft Planetary Computer.

💧 Clarity

Beaver Lake

(updated 11-5-2026) Jon Conklin with FishOn Guide Service (479-233-3474) said Beaver Lake level has stayed fairly consistent this last week. The level is 1,111.60 feet msl, or around 8 feet below normal . “We have received some rain, but more is needed. As you know, we have been really dry these last few months. Turnover is about to complete, as it has turned over in most areas. This is a big lake and it takes a bit of time to turnover the whole lake. Usually it happens in sections, as some areas cool quicker and other areas take a bit longer. “ Stripers are fair to good. There has been some toowater activity from Prairie Creek area to Rocky Branch. Stripers will continue to push south as bait moves that way. Ultimately the fish should land in an area from Horseshoe Bend all the way south to camp War Eagle. “ Crappie will continue to move toward structure as water cools. This will usher in a better bite or at least a more consistent one. “ Walleye do a disappearing act in October and November. If walleye are your game, they can be found shallow to fairly deep right now. My advice is to move often until you find a few. This time of the year you can use a variety of baits and methods. Trolling to drop-shot crawlers — everything will work. It’s not a good bite but you can put a few in the boat. “ Bass will school up for a bit and usually there is a good fall topwater bite. “The weather is starting to look more normal for this time of the year. Good fishing should follow closely. Stay safe and good luck!” Visit Jon’s Facebook page for the latest updates between weekly reports at FishOn Guide Service Goshen AR .

Beaver Dam today

⚡ Generating now · 3,310 cfs (USACE, 11:00 AM CT, Sun Nov 8)

Generation affects the river below the dam more than the lake. Hourly plans, river gauges and wading safety are on the White River below Beaver page and the dam release schedules.
